PRP Skin Rejuvenation

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Rejuvenation

PRP facelifts have been made popular through the international media with superstars such as the Kardashians using the treatment to reduce wrinkles, increase skin hydration and elasticity and rejuvenate their overall complexion. At Skin on Forty-Five, our highly accredited cosmetic team provide the treatment of the stars here in Taranaki. Through the use of a combination of PRP and hyaluronic acid filler, you can rejuvenate your skin with all-natural products and without resorting to surgical facelifts.

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich Plasma (AKA PRP) is the concentrate formed when we isolate the platelets and growth factors from your own blood through a patented process of centrifugation. This allows us to reinject the concentrated healing power of your own blood into damaged tissues to stimulate your body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing.

PRP is not a filler –  “it’s a truly regenerative treatment that involves harvesting the body’s own wound healing and regenerative growth factors to improve skin texture, as well as age-related changes like fine lines and laxity”.

How does PRP work?

Direct injections of PRP into the skin support and helps accelerate the process of tissue regeneration:

  • Stimulating new collagen production
  • Inducing mesenchymal stem cell division and differentiation
  • Stimulating angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels
  • Enhancement of skin texture and elasticity
What conditions is PRP most effective for?

PRP is good for:

  • Wrinkles, rhytides and fine lines
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Tired and dry skin
  • Uneven skin pigmentation
  • Skin laxity
  • Scars and stretch marks
  • Volume corrections
  • Tear troughs
  • Texture and tone improvement
  • People with autoimmune disorders who cannot have other treatment like Dermal fillers

For optimum results 3 – 6 treatments are advised over 6 – 9 months. We have amazing package deals to suit your budget.

These treatments result in long term results with faster healing following ascetic treatments, like Laser and Dermal needling.

How long does it take to see results?

PRP rejuvenation is a gradual process of stimulated cell growth and recovery, so don’t worry if you don’t see any immediate results – it can take four weeks for results to become apparent, with optimal response seen around the six to twelve-week mark. Most people report looking more refreshed and youthful, with a noticeable improvement in skin tone and texture. Overall, the results can last 12+ months.

What does a PRP facelift involve?

At the initial consultation appointment, our team will assess your ability to receive PRP and generate an injection plan to make the most of this amazing technology and generate the transformation you deserve and suits you. This process takes about 30 minutes but sometimes slightly longer.

A second visit is usually required for the actual procedure: Blood is drawn (just like a regular blood test) and then spun in a centrifugation system in PRP filtration tubes to separate the PRP from the other blood elements. This is then injected with tiny needles into the superficial layers of the skin. This whole procedure takes about 60-90 minutes depending upon a case to case basis.

Although PRP can be used as a treatment on its own, many will opt for the full PRP Facelift experience with the second phase of fillers added especially in the mid and lower face, which also means more immediate results.

Does the PRP Facelift hurt?

Due to the latest technology that we use, the PRP facelift and necklift techniques has less downtime and is a more comfortable procedure. The procedure involves drawing blood from the arm in the same way as with any blood test. The PRP produced is then reinjected into superficial layers of the skin of the face in a series of minimally painful injections. Following the procedure some slight inflammation shows the PRP is going to work and inciting the healing process in the skin which produces the results we see.

“The pain is in no way worse than waxing or plucking eyebrows and patients are really happy with the results. Patients always say its worth a little bit of pain to get the results they really want Charlotte (Skin on Forty-Five Appearance Nurse).”
