Profhilo - The power of hydration and rejuvenation
The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into the skin, Profhilo stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore the firmness of the skin.
One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.
How Does Profhilo® Work?
Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.
As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.
The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.

Profhilo® is a bio-remodeling agent designed to rejuvenate the skin. It works by boosting hydration, supporting skin elasticity, and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
The treatment involves injecting Profhilo® just beneath the skin at precise points. Its unique formulation is additive-free and consists of a high concentration of hyaluron, a carbohydrate naturally present in the skin (which declines with age).
Profhilo® spreads evenly through the skin tissues, forming a hydrating layer while also stimulating cell production, including collagen and elastin. Profhilo® helps tighten and lift sagging, wrinkled, and crepey skin and by hydrating the skin and promoting collagen and elastin, it enhances overall skin quality.
Profhilo® gives a more youthful and refreshed look.
- Book in advance, as treatment shouldn’t be within 4 weeks of planned dental treatment or intensive skin treatments or 4 days before an international flight. Also, allow 4 weeks before an important occasion for optimum healing.
- Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatories and oil supplements 5 days before your treatment to minimise your chance of bruising.
- Inform your practitioner if predisposed to cold sores, as preventative medication can be prescribed. Your practitioner may recommend treatments to condition the skin before your filler treatment, to optimise results.
The treated area will initially look red, swollen, feel tender or lumpy and bruising may appear after 12-24 hours. This generally takes 2-4 weeks to resolve. Due to factors like underlying facial asymmetry or scar tissue, results may be slightly uneven despite our very best efforts.
We recommend booking a complimentary follow-up consultation at 4 weeks after treatment to allow us to assess how you are going. This allows us to ensure optimal outcomes and address any questions you might have.
Those previously allergic to hyaluronan; with permanent fillers or facial implants; pregnant or breast-feeding; unwell with a cold, sinusitis or facial infection; prior keloid scarring; caution is needed for those with autoimmune disorders.
There is a very small risk of allergy, infection or the filler entering an artery. Any of these reactions must be promptly treated with a dissolving enzyme. Antibiotics and antihistamines may also be required. There have been extremely rare reports of blindness, with the treatment of the nose and between the eyes carrying a higher risk.
- Cleanse your face as normal
- Reduce swelling by gently applying intermittent cool packs, taking antihistamine medication and applying arnica or Hirudoid cream to help resolve bruising.
Please do not:
- Exercise intensely, drink alcohol or wear makeup for the remainder of the day.
- Swim, use a sauna or have facials for a week.
- Have any firm pressure on the area for one month (such as face-down massage).

Profhilo®, containing low & high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, is a Class III medical device for the treatment of the face and body for contours redefinition and laxity remodelling where skin laxity is a problem. Profhilo has risks and benefits. Do not use with treatments such a laser resurfacing or medium deep skin-peeling. Caution in people on blood thinning medicines. Do not inject into inflamed areas or intravenously or intramuscularly. Possible side effects: pain and swelling at injection site.
